'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Historic Cardiff Double

The preparations for Cardiff's south Wales derby against rivals Swansea next weekend were perfect really weren't they as we target a history making win at the Liberty Stadium.

We beat Norwich, coming from behind, while West Ham beat Swansea at Upton Park.

The Bluebirds securing a vital win, a first about a month and a half of Premier League football, was a morale booster in itself but confidence would go into overdrive if we could beat Swansea and not only get another vital three points but also beat our fiercest rivals.

History would also be made as it would mean we became the first ever side in over 100 years to complete the league double in this fixture and OGS, after masterminding us to his first win as our manager, is targeting this and knows all about this history behind this fixture.

'I know about the history of this fixture, I am aware there has never been a league double. Let's go out and make history. Why not? This may be the time.

'I watched the south Wales derby on television earlier this season when Cardiff won and the return is going to be another tough match.'

OGS also went on to talk about the passion of the Cardiff fans, Craig Bellamy talked about his disappointment at the way the fans turned on the team on Saturday though, and even though he's clearly not Welsh the new manager has already found out how much this club means to us.

He also knows just how much the fixture means to us too.

'There is a passion among Cardiff fans which I knew about before and has been evident since I arrived. We understand what this fixture means to the fans.'

If this game had been at the Cardiff City Stadium I wouldn't have had much doubt that we would have won because Swansea have lost so often away from the Liberty but with them having home advantage this time it's not a given that we'll win but with added incentive to do this along with the bragging rights to be gained, and getting that morale winning victory on Saturday, the momentum is with us.

Will history be with us though?
