Hampered By Financial Greed
I'm afraid it's rife in football these days OGS, greed is part and parcel of the footballing world. It's not something that's a new thing either is it as it would've been common during his playing days too.
Players have arrived since he became the Cardiff manager, but approaches for others have proved unsuccessful with OGS telling BBC Sport that this is the case due to 'unreasonable demands' from agents and clubs.
'They think we've got 'X' amount of money to just give away - of course we haven't.
'There's loads of players that I've wanted, maybe had a look at, but the price tag is not realistic.'
I'm not suggesting that OGS, or his agent, are/were greedy but they too would have wanted what they felt was the best thing for themselves. He strikes me as a man that isn't/wasn't among the footballing mercenaries these days mind.
January is also a notorious month for overinflated prices so it's unlikely that too many bargains will be around in the January sales, unlike on the high streets. All we can do is stand firm to our principles and if excessive amounts are being asked move on to the next target and so on.
OSG did go on to talk about his happiness at the three Norwegian internationals that he's brought in this month and even though they're not Premier League tried and trusted, which worries me a little, he knows them all well and has little doubt they'll adjust to the demands of this league.
Further moves for Norwegian, and/or Molde players, wasn't being ruled out either.
