Cardiff Have Only One Candidate In Mind

The bookmarkers have Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Sven Goran Eriksson as the favourites to become the next Cardiff manager.

Vincent Tan, who wasn't going to give Malky a penny, has reportedly promised the next manager a 25m war chest to ensure that relegation from the Premier League is avoided. I'm sure this is something that Malky would have made happen with Cardiff anyway if Tan hadn't kept interfering, and overshadowing things at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Mehmet Dalman isn't being drawn on any speculation as to who the next manager could be but has been quoted on Wales Online as saying there's only one candidate in mind, but no one has been offered anything and he seeks patience for the next week or so until this happens.

The chairman said: "Right now there are few people ruled out and nobody ruled in. I have only had 24 hours to think about this. These things take time and we will work diligently.

"I hope people are patient on this for a little longer.

"I have not made an offer to anybody as such, but that does not mean I have not had discussions.

"I do, though, have only one candidate in mind.
"

There's clearly, on the face of it, a backup plan (as there needs to be) in mind for Dalman but that first choice option, which could well be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, needs to be convinced that Cardiff is the right club to come to and all the while you have Vincent Tan interfering and causing controversy it wouldn't be a job I'd be rushing to take on I've got to admit.

Solskjaer's interest in the post has been a bit conflicted, some reports from Norway are saying he's already ruled himself out but the former Manchester United striker hasn't confirmed, or denied, anything.
