'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mackay Won't Be Getting A Single Penny In January

The ink has barely dried on manager Malky Mackay's comments that he would like to add three more quality additions to the squad in January, but now we have a slightly bizarre statement from the club.

The press are now full with nuggets from the statement made by Chief Exective Simon Lim, especially the part which indicates that Iain Moody's removal from the club was directly linked to an apparent £15million over spend on the manager's summer transfer budget.

The statement reads.

'Tan Sri Vincent Tan was extremely upset to read quotes from the Manager concerning the possibility of new recruits, before he had been informed whether funds would be made available. He believes that doing so unfairly raises supporter expectations, placing unnecessary pressure on the club.'

The statement continues to say that in our owners' eyes, the funds already committed in the summer - '£35million that rose to £50million in total, including add ons' means that the Manager has been full supported.

'The overspending of £15million has upset Tan Sri greatly, resulting in the removal of Iain Moody as Head of Recruitment. As such, he has stated that not a single penny will be made available in January.'

Lim's statement finishes by saying that Cardiff were the highest spending promoted club and the seventh highest spender in the Premier League this summer, and our owner believes that in light of that the Manager has been given enough, and the best possible chance of retaining our Premier League status this season.

Obviously the words and the choice of them, have now led the press to speculate again about Malky's future at the club and allowed them to re-visit his relationship with our board and owner.

Be interesting to see if Malky re-visits this statement himself in the coming days.

I'm not being too much of a conspiracy theorist in saying that this is being said in the hope that it will force Malky out am I?
