Yesterdays hard-fought win over Southampton means that Cardiff City have now won FIVE successive games. The likes of Crystal Palace and Wolves, both with recent Premiership experience, have been beaten and from Cardiff's 12 games so far (10 of those sides now lie in the top 12 !), they have lost just once (Preston away) and drawn twice (WBA and Plymouth Argyle). It is a truly remarkable start to the season and testiment to the fantastic work put in by the players, the backroom staff and most prominently Dave Jones. There is a long way to go, and Cardiff will surely face a couple of rocky patches yet but the football is great to watch and fans are now flocking back to Ninian Park meaning that the last 3 home games have been virtual sell-outs. The extra revenue brought in by the large crowds is unlikely to be made available for squad strenthening in January but will be used to secure the new stadium and training facilities vital to the clubs future and of great importance to Dave Jones.
Times are great at Ninian Park at the moment and we all hope that if and when results go against us the fans will not all disappear as it it clear what a difference they can make to the side. Kevin Campbell yesterday demonstrated that by encouraging the crowd at every opportunity with a big grin on his face when we took the lead. Campbell has played his career mostly in top flight football, including Arsenal, but he obviously feels the Ninian Park crowd can have a big impact on the team.
Yes we are exceeding expectations, but no-one can deny that we deserve to be top of the pile at the moment. 6 points clear and 5 wins on the trot - Bluebirds!
