Andrea Feretti served a timely reminder of his potential bagging a brace in today's reserve team fixture. Michael Chopra will be suspended for the visit to Norwich next Saturday and Feretti may have put his name in the frame to cover the ban.
Feretti moved to Cardiff last year and is highly rated and prolific in the reserves. He has had little chance at first team level as Jones believes he needs 'toughening up' first and to learn about the style of football in the country compared to his native Italy. He had a short stint with Scunthorpe United earlier this season but failed to find the net in a few substitute appearances.
Kevin Campbell and Luigi Glombard have served as back-up to Chopra and Thompson but neither has made a significant impact in any of their substitute appearances, nor, in the defeat at home to Barnet where both started.
Either could start in Chopra's stead, but a Thompson / Campbell partnership may lack pace and goalscoring threat whereas Glombard has had very little game time and virtually no experience at this level. Another option would be to play Paul Parry up-front with Thompson and Kamara / Flood on the right side of midfield.Whichever option Dave Jones chooses, Feretti put his name in contention with his two goals.
Jamal Easter also scored twice in the 8-0 win whilst pacy youngster Curtis McDonald returned from injury and came on as a 2nd half substitute.
