Chopra edges out McNaughton

According to a recent poll on this site, Michael Chopra has been the most impressive newcomer - just pipping Kevin McNuaghton into second place. Chopra arrived for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £500k compensation, and has caught the eye with his intelligent running and link-up play. Chops has also got 6 goals so far and looked lively in every game. Kevin McNaughton arrived on a free transfer from Aberdeen and has looked completely assured and unflappably solid at left back and right back. The silver-haired youngster has performed brilliantly so far and was leading the poll until Chopra's 4 goals in 2 games. Chopra gained 40% of the vote, with McNaughton receiving 39%.

On-loan youngster Kerrea Gilbert gained a creditable 13% and has looked especially lively going forward and committed in the tackle although his positional play can be a weakness. Nevertheless Gilbert has won over the City crowd and looks a good prospect for the future.

Stephen McPhail has made less impression on the fans gaining just 2% but Chopra and Scimeca have both hailed McPhail's contribution as key to their own success. McPhail can drift in and out of games but his contribution can go un-noticed and underestimated. A fantastic showing against Southend may alert others to his contribution.

The lack of game time afforded to Willo Flood and Kevin Campbell saw them fail to gain many votes finishing with 2% and 4% respectively.
