Helguson In, Bellamy Out For Cardiff City

Helguson In, Bellamy Out For Cardiff City

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has turned to experienced frontman Heidar Helguson to partner the lively Fraizer Campbell in attack for the Bluebirds against Peterborough Utd today. It was always likely that Bellamy would be rested following his efforts for Wales during the week. Helguson is making a rare start in 2013 so will be well rested and raring to go.

Also as expected, Ben Turner returns at the expense of youngster Ben Nugent meaning Leon Barnett makes a second start for his loan club in the heart of the City defense.

There were question marks over the midfield selection after Cowie impressed in a different look engine room against the Owls. Cowie indeed keeps his place, as does Aron Gunnarsson with wideman Tommy Smith also getting the nod. That may mean that Wjhittingham again operates in a left-sided role, although a central three and roaming role for Smith is also a possibility.

Bellamy is omitted from the bench so Conway, Kim, Mutch, Gestede, Mason and McNaughton provide the cover and options to alter things later on.
