Cardiff City Boosted By Wickham's Owls Departure

Cardiff City will not face highly rated striker Connor Wickham when we face Sheffield Wednesday, owing to him returning to parent club Sunderland. The 19 year old has played six times for Wednesday in his loan spell, scoring once and doing the Bluebirds a big favour in the process as he netted a second half winner against rivals Leicester City.

Dave Jones' side had tried hard to get Wickham's loan spell extended, but the youngster has now returned to the Black Cats who themselfes lost a striker recently in allowing Frazier Campbell to join us for £650K.

With former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd also departing after an un-successful loan spell, Wednesday are now short of options in attack but will have Leroy Lita and Gary Madine fit and is likely to adopt a lone frontman formation for our visit.

Sheffield Wednesday moved away from relegation danger after the win over Leicester City, so a draw against the league leaders may be considered a good point. However, Dave Jones will undoubtedly be looking to beat his former club and another win would see the Owls open a good cushion and further away from the drop zone.
