Cardiff City Agree Lappin Deal, But Not Yet Done
Cardiff City remain poised to sign versatile left-sided player Simon Lappin after the player was released by Norwich City in anticipation of a move to the Bluebirds. Lappin spent a brief loan spell in South Wales earlier this season - his most memorable contribution a red card on his debut whilst deputising for left-back Andrew Taylor.
Lappin was a virtual outcast at Norwich and has barely played at all recently. Mackay tentatively enquired about a permanent move and the Canaries were willing to release him from his contract. However, despite providing experienced cover, Lappin again looks set to struggle for first team opportunities with Taylor firmly established as City's number 3.
Lappin's representatives have provisionally agreed a deal with Cardiff City, but are waiting to see if any further interest emerges. City have turned to Lappin after moves for the likes of Brayford and Tom Lees were not encouraged by their clubs. Malky is relcutant to spend, except for the right player and clearly feels Lappin offers as good an option - but for no transfer fee.
