Strong Cardiff City Development Squad Impress

Cardiff City's Development side produced a solid performance last night to overcome Brentford courtesy of an impressive Joe Ralls strike and another goal from the prolific Etien Velikonja. It was a strong CCFC XI with a mixture of experience and youth as many players with first team aspirations showed their anility.

McPhail, Kiss, Ralls and Ben Nugent are all members of the first team squad or played a decent amount of time in the league. Velikonja, Kadeem Harris and Luke Coulson are all hoping to break into contention.

It was the first taste of action in some time for the Bluebirds after missing a week due to re-arrangement of the Leicester City clash. The first team squad enjoyed a warm weather training camp in Dubai - a break that seemed to go down well with players and staff alike.

The current crop of youth at Cardiff City looks quite strong, but ironically we now have the strongest depth of first team squad in many years. Previously, the likes of Velikonja and Harris would certainly have gained gametime while Kiss and Ralls are playing much less regularly than in porevious seasons.

A long way from the previous fringe players like Luigi Glombard, Solomon Taiwo or Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu to call upon!
