Double Defensive Boost For Cardiff City

Cardiff City have used their week off to great effect and been handed a massive boost with the news that Mark Hudson's ankle injury and Ben Turner's tight hamstring have both been minor worries and both should be available to face Leeds United.

Turner missed out at Blackpool, meaning a positional change for Matthew Connolly who reverted to partner Hudson at centre half. Hudson himself was forced off just moments into the second half so young prospect Ben Nugent was handed some further gametime. He again did well, and remains a very useful option, however, City will be desperately releived to have their first choice duo back fit.

Manager Malky Mackay told WalesOnline:

"Ben and Mark are making progress and they will be joining in with the group next Tuesday when we are back in Cardiff."

"That will give them three or four days full training before the match at Leeds. Right now both look promising for that match."

The defensive line has remained very settled throughout the season, with Malky Mackay clearly seeing his preferred back four of Taylor-Turner-Hudson-Connolly. Whilst Kevin McNaughton offers experienced cover on both full-back positions, we remain relatively lightwight in that department so any long-term injury to a defender would severely test our promotion credentials.
