Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay will leave it late before deciding his line-up to face Blackpool tonight after admitting that a number of players have been unable to participate fully in training during the week. Centre-half Ben Turner and forward Craig Bellamy will both face late fitness tests, with Kevin McNaughton and Joe Mason the likely replacements.
Heidar Helguson is pushing for a recall, after being displaced by Rudy Gestede in recent weeks. Nicky Maynard (knee) is long term injured while no new striker has yet come in - though a move remains close for Sunderland's Frazier Campbell. Tommy Smith is another hoping to feature after returning from a groin injury.
Macaky must choose from Smith, Craig Noone, Kim Bo Kyung and Craig Conway for the wide roles, while Aron Gunnarsson remains in pole position to partner Whittingham - keeping Jordon Mutch on the sidelines.
Blackpool are currently under the management of a caretaker - Steve Thompson. He will be without key winger Matt Phillips who has a toe injury, while the experienced Ian Evatt also misses out (knee).
This will be Thompson's third game in charge, and he will face a difficult decision in attack with Nathan Delfouneso and veteran Kevin Phillips facing a challenge from Nathan Eccleston who scored from the bench last time out.
