'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hammam relishes cup tie

Sam Hammam gave a radio interview just after 1.30pm this afternoon. This is what he had to say on our FA Cup tie against Arsenal at Highbury…

'We were saying before the draw that we'd like to have some big team away, or else be at home. It came the way we wanted and it's very special to play Arsenal.'

'It's a big boost at a good time. We expect to generate about £500,000, perhaps more with television. But it's a great opportunity for our fans - it's teams like Arsenal in the Premiership that ultimately we want to play week-in, week-out.

'What we're going to do now is make it for the members who are season ticket holders to travel to that game. They will have priority and, of course, we are very mindful that we don't want any trouble for a high profile game like this.'

The club are hoping to shift a lot more half-season tickets on the back of this fixture as no-one wants to miss out on a trip to Arsenal.

'I've got one more year left with Feyenoord, but I like Cardiff very much and I hope my future is here, I prefer the British way to the Dutch way. It's more my style of playing and I'm really enjoying it. That's why I made the decision to come here, because it's more my style. I knew what British football was like because I've played against British teams.'
