Cardiff City Overcome Lacklustre Lions

Cardiff City were far from their best but managed a valuable victory over a lacklustre Millwall side to maintain the Bluebirds lead at the top of the Championship.

It was Rudy Gestede, making a rare start in place of Heidar Helguson, who got the goal. Rudy finished low from 8 yards after finding a yard of space but the goal was made by excellent work from Craig Noone on the right. City were creating by far the more dangerous moments with Noone and Bellamy prominent. Millwall had just two headers to show for their efforts, but Henderson should have done better with one effort when un-marked - Marshall making a good low save.

After the break, Jordon Mutch was incredibly close to doubling the lead as Bellamy cut back from the left. I have no idea what the shot hit, but seemed to be a certain goal until it wzs diverted wide at the last second. If Forde saved it, it was a brilliant stop.

City never really got into top gear, but Millwall were far from impressive themselves. I thought they pressed well, but were lacking in forward momentum and Henry on the right wasted their three best chances with some dodgy shooting.

Three points the order of the day, three points the end result. And

thats about all there was to it!
