Cardiff City will have versatile defender Matthew Connolly back from suspension to be included in the squad to face Millwall. However, he may be restricted to a place on the bench if Mackay sticks with Kevin McNaughton on the right after a good display vs Palace.
City have no new injury concerns leaving striker Nicky Maynard (knee) as the only long term absentee. Midfielders Steve McPhail (hamstring/illness) and Kadeem Harris (ankle) are theoretically back in contention but not expected to feature heavily in the first team. Winger Tommy Smith is now back in training, but likely to wait until the New Year before making his return from a groin problem.
Malky Mackay has decisions to make with regards rotation. He will strongly consider the inclusion of Aron Gunnarsson in midfield after the Icelander impressed when replacing the out-of-sorts Jordon Mutch. Addtionally, either or both of the experienced attacking duo of Helguson / Bellamy could be replaced by the younger options of Gestede and Mason respectively.
Millwall have been given a boost this week with the news that on loan defender Adam Smith is available for the match after seeing his red card rescinded.
However, Kenny Jackett will be without his attacking duo of Chris Taylor (knee) and former Bluebird Andy Keogh (toe). Both are closing in on returns, but will not be risked against Cardiff City.
Nadjim Abdou will be available to the Lions, having previously missed recent matches due to travelling to the South of France where his son has been ill. The midfielder is back in contention and in line for a recall.
