Leicester Fan's View On Cardiff City Clash

Cardiff City travel to face Leicester City today in a crucial top six clash. We spoke to SvensAmbition over at Vital Leicester to get his views ahead of the clash:

Comfortably in top six - is that good enough?

At this stage of the season I think I'd have to say yes. The stated aim of the club is simply promotion, so it probably helps ease the pressure on the players for us to be in and around the mix as opposed to outside the top 6. We've still lost more games than we can be comfortable with, and for how good we can be at points, consistency is still something that nags away at the back of the head. What we need to do from here is push on though. Automatic promotion would be preferred by our board, but at least a play off spot is closer than last season - but if we lose the play off battle then the summer might see another change of gaffer which I don't think would help us.

Aspirations for the rest of the season?

As above really, our own stated aspiration is to go up and that really is by any means necessary, but the Play Off route would be tricky so Pearson and the lads have to be focused on now putting a run together that will get us into the top two. In some ways it's brilliant to see the drive of the board in saying promotion and nothing else, but it does put immeasurable pressure on each and every game.

How's your general form?

Generally good, but we are prone to lapses. Again it's the consistency issue, we've lost too many games that we should've at least got a point from, but we are capable of solid results and wins. It really does depend on whether we turn up unfortunately.

If you could take on Cardiff player on a free - who and why?

Whittingham for me. Creative, Premiership experienced, and seems very very consistent to an outsider. I'm amazed one of the established Premiership clubs haven't taken him off your hands to be honest. A slightly different player to our midfielders, and would be a cracking option for us to really rotate things around to suit a match.

Player to watch Saturday?

Knockaert I would think. Absolutely flying this season after finding his feet in the league. If we don't secure promotion this season, he's the first player I guess we will have trouble in keeping, followed by Ben Marshall. Both clearly deserve a chance in the top league.

Prediction for the game?

We're on the back of another of our down periods, a draw and a loss, so whilst head says it's time for us to get back to a good 2-0 win, my head says given your form that I'd more than take a 1-1 draw.

Many thanks to SvensAmbition for his thoughts.
