Cardiff City's Conway 'Withdraws' Transfer Request
News reports are claiming the Scottish winger Craig Conway has withdrawn the written transfer request he submitted several weeks ago after becoming disillusioned with a lack of action recently.
Malky Mackay rejected the request, stating Conway has a role to play. That was backed up with a return to the starting XI in place of the suspended Craig Noone. Conway excelled and won the game for City with a goal against Sheff Wed - he also showed tremendous appetite and work-rate despite the disappointing defeat against Peterborough.
Conway now appears appeased, and told BBC Sport:
'Every player wants to play football- there was no other reason behind it at all, I'm playing, so I'm happy and that's it.'
'I'm fully committed to Cardiff, I'm really enjoying it and I'm playing. I'm enjoying getting back involved.'
I'm not sure a rejected request can be withdrawn, but the fact that Conway is not pushing to leave is a good sign and his recent form suggests he is a useful asset. There will be more competition for the wide roles now that Tommy Smith is nearing a return but 'The Bull' is certainly in his managers thoughts.
