Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham has grown from strength-to-strength as a Bluebirds player and is a hugely influential player for us as well as being undoubtedly one of the most talented outside the Premiership.
In previous years, you can be sure that Cardif City would have touted him to higher level clubs and looked to cash in due to our financial instability. He would likely have joined Fulham or one of the other clubs who expressed an interest for around £5m and we would have had to rebuild. When Joe Allen is sold to liverpool for £15m - you have to think Whittingham's value to us right now is hugely more than any sum we could sell him for.
Speaking of his impressive form, Whittingham told BBC Sport:
'It's just great to be linked with such clubs and things like that, but my dream as soon as I got here was to get Cardiff to the Premier League and that's what I want to do.'
The one thing we all know about Whitts is that he does what he wants and that holds for this season more than any other - even his goalscoring form of 3 seasons ago. The precision and array of his passing, the general control and sublime accuracy of his set-pieces mark him as a truly exceptional Cardiff City stalwart and if getting Cardiff City to the Premiership is 'what he wants to do' - few would argue against it on current form.
