Kim Impresses On Long Awaited Cardiff City Debut

Cardiff City midfielder Kim Bo Kyung made his first start for the Bluebirds and can be delighted with his debut after looking comfortable throughout in helping his side to a 4-0 home victory over Burnley on Saturday. South Korean Kim has been a regular substitute, but failed to play more than a few minu8tes - leaving fans questioning his role going forwards.

Malky Mackay named Kim on the left flank in a midfield four that looked lightweight at first but did an outstanding job. For his part, Kim showed some excellent touches and composure on the ball. He was tidy if unspectacular throughout, and rarely lost possession. It seems likely there is plenty more to come from Kim, though he is certainly not a winger in the mould of Noone.

Kim could well have had a goal but Joe Mason understandably chose to shoot rather than set up his team-mate, another attacking highlight saw Kim, Noone and Connelly interchanging the ball at ease deep inside the Clarets` penalty area - almost creating another goal.

There are clearly some communication issues to be worked on, and Kim certainly struggled to understand Andrew Taylor`s instructions to 'get in front` - though perhaps that was the strong Hartlepool accent rather than a difficulty with the English! Saturday`s game with Bolton will be a different clash entirely, and Mackay may see Kim as somewhat of a luxury away from home at the moment. Either way, he would be unlucky to be dropped and showed he has plenty to offer the Bluebirds this season.
