Holloway Bemoans Cathcart Absence At Cardiff

Cardiff City will face Blackpool this weekend with the Tangerines missing a big player in centre-half Craig Cathcart. The former Manchester United trainee has suffered an injury to his calf and will miss several weeks.

Fans familiar with Championship football will remember Cathcart coming to prominence with a loan move to Plymouth Argyle. He was clearly a promising strong defender with a good future ahead of him. Malky Mackay took him on loan to Watford before Holloway swooped to land Cathcart on a permanent deal to Blackpool.

Cathcart suffered his injury prior to the surprise 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town. Blackpool had won their previous game 4-1 (against Middlesborough) but with Ian Evatt stepping in for Cathcart - they conceded three.

Pool had only conceded three in their six Championship matches thus far this season, so conceding three to the Terriers in one game, at home - was a surprise.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Cardiff, Ian Holloway stated:

"Craig has been terrific for us, along with my whole defence, but we conceded three against Huddersfield and it`s back to the drawing board."
