Cardiff City First Team Stars Impress

Cardiff City recorded a welcome 4-0 win over Cheltenham Town side last night and had four goals by senior players to thank for the win. However, after giving a chance to a number of youngsters during the second half - Malky Mackay will be delighted by the quality and work-rate of his future stars with players like midfielder Kevin Saint Luce particularly impressive.

Andre Taylor hit the first with a sweetly struck effort fro distance before Robert Earnshaw got his head onto a cross to double the lead. Craig Conway's break resulted in a goal for the Scottish winger before Peter Whittingham completed the scoring with a trademark free-kick.

A number of players missed the game, with Mackay opting against risking any injuries. The likes of McNaughton, Mutch, Cowie and Kadeem Harris were left out.

Pre-season has allowed the first action for a new look CCFC squad and things appear to be coming together after a week long training camp in Switzerland and now back-to-back friendlies against Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham Town whereby almost everyone has now played some part. McNaughton, Mutch, Cowie and Gestede are among those yet to feature while South Korean star Kim will not join up with the squad for another couple of weeks.
