Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay reckons a couple more players will be enough to supplement his already talented squad as he prepared for another long Championship campaign.
City have already added Lewis, Mutch, Kim and Velikonja - with only Kenny Miller and Tom Heaton due to be replaced. Velikonja is an unknown quantity as yet, but has good pedigree while Mutch and Kim are in addition to last season's midfield of Whitts, Gunnarsson, McPhail, Cowie and co.
City are still working hard to bring in a defender, with a loan deal for a young Premiership starlet a possibility. Another striking option is also a priority, with Craig Bellamy previously linked.
Speaking to WalesOnline, Mackay stated:
'We are still working on bringing in players. I'd like two or three more.'
Those comments are up-to-date, though fans will remember similar comments being made on a regular basis around August time last year. We failed to add any new faces then, while the constant claims of chasing 'the right players' during the transfer window also failed to see us bring in the quality player, ready to step straight in, who could have made all the difference.
The new faces may also be dependent on shipping out some unwanted players, with Anthony Gerrard and Dekel Keinan top of that list and actively seeking new clubs.
