Cardiff City Star Man Whitts Is Going Nowhere!

Cardiff City have re-iterated their desire to keep hold of influential midfielder Peter Whittingham after rebuffing offers from Fulham, with other potential suitors like Aston Villa and WBA credited with an interest in Whitts. The offers so far remain well short of the £5m fee that would probably be fair, and at which point Cardiff City may have to at least consider a transfer.

However, Malky Mackay is adamant he has no intention of letting Whitts go, and is again looking to build the Bluebirds` midfield around the creative midfielder. Last season, Whittingham was hugely influential and spent most of his time as part of a midfield three. As a former winger, and relatively lightweight midfielder - he always looked more comfortable with others around him. This coming season, the arrival of Jordon Mutch to add to the likes of Gunnarsson, Kiss and Cowie suggest that Malky is again looking to utilise three central midfielder but hopefully release Whittingham further forward.

Whittingham himself is also happy to stay at the club, though he retains serious and achievable ambitions to play in the Premiership. He signed a new deal at the club just last year, and is a laidback but determined character and one who has never spoken of leaving the club so far. Over the past seasons, he has shown his quality and worth so many times, and when on form - Cardiff City generally do very well.

As a Villa fan I wish him luck and to be honest he would be a squad player at Villa, I think he is better staying at Cardiff. Not saying that I didnt like him when he was at Villa, sad to see him leave, but pleased he has progressed.
