Amidst all the re-branding vs investment furore over the past few weeks, there has been little in the way of decisive action - onlt endless discussion, dirision and the odd board statement. What has happened, is that the re-branding has pushed forward behind the scenes such that it is surely to late to stop what with shirts, merchandise etc already in production.
It has also been made clear that all the positive connotations of the proposed plans are almost wholly dependent on the resolution of the longstanding Langston dispute. AS we understand it, after years of prpotracted but apparently 'amicable' negotiations - a final offer has been formally offered to Langston.
If those negotiations really were amicable, it would be entirely clear what Langston required to accept the offer so it would suggest that the club are trying to use the 'investment package' on offer as leverage to encourage Langston into a settlement.
Langstone 'representative' Sam Hammam has yet to make any statement, save for the persistent drip feed of carefully chosen information behind-the-scenes. The longer this farce drags on, the more resentment to the re-brand plans, and the longer delay before any of the positives can be put into action.
More cat-and-mouse between CCFC is the last thing anyone needs at the current time. If the offer on the table is anything like what has been discussed over the past 2 years - then one phonecall should be enough to reach a compromise without this stand-off. Unfortunately, common sense rarely prevails and there is enough bad blood between all manner of people involved in this particular mess for the ongoings delays to continue to hold CCFC back.
