Cardiff City Secure Win Over Poor Crystal Palace

Cardiff City Secure Win Over Poor Crystal Palace

Cardiff City survived a nervy first half before coming back strongly in the second half to overcome a lacklustre Crystal Palace outfit.

It was against the run of play, but the Eagles led at the break after Wilfred Zaha reached a long through ball between Taylor and Turner. Marshall dashed out but probably made Zaha's task easier and he duly poked past the Bluebirds' keeper.

City were guilty of wasting their chances, though an early Lawrence strike was well saved and Lewis Price did brilliantly to parry Mason's follow-up. Miller, Gunnarsson, Mason and Whittingham all fired wastefully over the bar as City looked nervous and lacking in a cutting edge.

However, after the break there was more intent and purpose to City while Palace again failed to show much by the way of attacking mentality. Peter Whittingham has been credited with the equaliser, netting from the narrowest of angles from a free-kick. It looked to flick Mason's head but was a dangerous ball and squeezed inside the far post.

A point was enough for City, but we made it safe via a well taken Don Cowie strike from 12 yards. A Gunnarsson long throw wasn't cleared and Cowie swiveled and volleyed low into the corner.

There was little by the way of goalmouth action as City saw out the game without any major scared. Kenny Miller was often to be found in a wide position and we continued to waste good attacking positions. Nevertheless, it was all about the result and we showed great character to come back from a goal down to win.

Cardiff City in the play-offs....... again.
