Cardiff City Punished By Lowly Coventry City

Cardiff City were twice pegged back and held to a draw by relegation threatened Coventry City, losing vital ground on their play-off rivals and a crucial chance for a much needed 3 points.

A McDonald og from a corner gave City a deserved first half lead, but the visitors stepped up three gears after the break and City simply couldn't cope. Gary McSheffrey blasted a penalty over the bar, but the equaliser did come when Clarke's low effort found the bottom corner.

Both sides had efforts to win the game, and substitutes Gestede and Earnshaw were positive for City - Earnie twice going close. With under 10 minutes to go, Peter Whittingham struck a sweet low volley out of nothing into the corner to beat Joe Murphy and restore the lead.

That strike looked to have won the match, only for City to relinquish possession entirely for the final minutes. We backed off Oliver Norwood and he punished us by picking out the bottom corner from 20 yards and deliver a sucker punch to the players and fans alike.
