Cardiff City Stutter To Draw With Burnley

Cardiff City managed a point today against battling Burnley but the Bluebirds were left frustrated by the same old deficiencies as a lack of conviction, cutting edge and an inability to maintain possession in advanced areas.

City were probably the better side, though the visitors always looked dangerous even though sitting very deep and clearly settling for a point midway through the second half. McNaughton and Turner both made timely blocks to prevent dangerous shots on goal but the majority of Burnley's efforts were from long range and caused Marshall few problems. However one low Wallace shot and a deflected cross were very well saved by the Scotsman at his near post. Burnley clearly dominated the midfield area, and a more adventurous side would surely have created better chances and likely won the game. The Clarets were stronger and had a better shape though lacked quality.

Cardiff weren't bad today, things went against us at times but this is far from good enough. Hudson caused problems and went close with an overhead kick while Miller and Mason also went close. A late glancing header was the best chance but missed the target from Taylor's cross. There was no lack of effort but few players were available, and we looked short of confidence and ideas.

A point gained, but the lack of goals is very worrisome. A change of formation helped somewhat but City are running out of chances and need an immediate return to form- I just can't see where the goals will come from.
