Cardiff City vs Burnley (Team News)

Cardiff City host Burnley today looking to re-discover some much needed form. Malky Mackay will certainly have considered resting several first team players with McNaughton, Cowie, Gunnarsson and Miller the most likely candidates - though Macaky is likely to again keep faith with his starting XI.

Towering frontman Rudy Gestede is definitely out for City (hamstring) while Steve McPhail will not be considered due to illness. However, the Irishman is close to a return and could yet feature midweek.

Those pushing for a recall to the starting line-up include Filip Kiss, Robert Earnshaw and Darcy Blake but the most likely change (if any) would be the return of Craig Conway to provide much needed balance on the wing. Young winger Kadeem Harris is yet to feature, but the departure of loan midfielder Haris Vuckic back to Newcastle United could see youngster Harris given a chance on the bench.

urnley are sweating over the fitness of dangerous attacker Jay Rodriguez. He was taken off during the Clarets' previous game, but is is contention to face City today. Rodriguez will face a late fitness test on his groin injury. Eddie Howe would be reluctant to risk aggravating the injury further.

If Rodriguez does not feature, Junior Stanislas or Zavon Hines provide viable alternatives in attack. Martin paterson is available once more after a hamstring problem, while promising striker Danny Ings will also hope to feature.

Add to those above the ever dangerous Charlie Austin and Burnley would seem to have a dearth of attacking options - in stark contrast to our own miserly alternatives to Kenny Miller!
