Gutsy Cardiff City Edged Out By Liverpool
Cardiff City put in a stirring display in taking Liverpool to extra time and penalties but it was the Reds who win the Carling Cup after 3 City players miss (not saved) their penalties.
Despite being under pressure throughout, The Bluebirds led by Joe Mason's tidy low finish. Pool hit back midway through the second half and looked the more likely side to win it until Turner and Miller both had brilliant chances late on.
During extra time, Liverpool pressed while City looked tired. Dirk Kuyt looked to have won the game with a snapshot only for Cardiff City to respond against all odds when Turner fired home from a corner. It wasn't to be however and City were beaten despite Heatpn's stunning save from Steve Gerrard. His cousin Anthony scuffed our final penalty wide.
A tremendous effort from Cardiff City, taking an established Champs League outfit to pens. We rode our luck for sure but could so easily have edged it. Well done to Malky and the boys.
