Mackay & Gerrard Bust-Up For Cardiff City ?

Cardiff City centre-half Anthony Gerrard and manager Malky Mackay appeared to have a serious disagreement during the desperately disappointing 3-0 away defeat at Ipswich Town and the former Hull City loanee may have his Bluebirds career again called into question.

Mackay and Gerrard became involved in a 'heated discussion' over a period of 5 minutes midway through the second half. It wasn't clear what incident sparked the clash, but Mackay was clearly unhappy and Gerrard was only to have to put his side across.

It was only minutes afterwards that Gerrard was then hauled off, to be replaced by Darcy Blake. Clearly, that switch was not made for tactical reasons.

Gerrard is a committed and wholehearted individual, and will certainly not be happy to be third choice centre-back behind Ben Turner and Mark Hudson. He has had a run of game recently with Hudson injured, but that has co-incided with some poor team form.

Whether the argument was resolved afterwards is not known. Both are strong characters and Mackay has fostered a relationship whereby all players are free to air their views honestly. However, Gerrard's place in the team will come under question.

Hopefully Mark Hudson will be available after his calf injury. We have missed his presence at the back but if again absent, Gerrard may not be called upon to face his hometown club and possibly his cousin Steven Gerrard - a match I'm sure he is looking forward to immensely.
