Brighton 'Do Not Expect' Noone Transfer

Cardiff City remain interested in securing the services of Brighton & Hove Albion winger Craig Noone after tracking the wideman for the past few weeks and seeing repeated bids rebuffed by the Seagulls.

It seems Brighton are keen to keep Noone, who has excelled during the early part of the season while it is as yet unclear whether the player himself is overly keen on a move. Poyet has previously hinted that a deal could be done, but Noone would command a sizable transfer fee and City are also keen not to pay over the odds.

On behalf of B&H Albion this afternoon (albeit via Twitter), a statement read:

'Brighton & Hove Albion do not expect any other players to be leaving (either on loan or permanently) today.'

This was following the news that Will Hoskins had left to join Sheffield United on loan.

Despite the messages in public, it is certain that Cardiff City are still interested which suggests that the noises coming from Brighton in private give Mackay hope a deal can still be done.

There's plenty of time left for City to get their man, but if Noone is not to become a Bluebird - Mackay will have significant un-used funds either to switch to another target - or to invest in hefty wages for a loan player when that window opens next week.....
