Cardiff City are looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back cup defeats and an uninspiring performance during a 0-0 draw with Doncaster Rovers. Portsmouth are the visitors to the CCS this weekend, and City will be looking to continue their impressive home form.
By constrast, Portsmouth are not good on the road and have won only once away from home with a further 4 games ending all square. Key to that disappointing form has been a distinct lack of goals and after netting 5 on the road in their first three games - Pompey have failed to score more than one goal away from home since - Appleton's side have just 8 goals on the road this season with only rock bottom Coventry City having scored fewer.
Portsmouth are also without joint leading scorer David Norris who is banned but retain the seemingly potent goal threats of Benjani, Kitson and Futacs.
The Bluebirds will surely back themselves to get a goal at home, having scored in every single league and cup game at the CCS except for a 0-0 draw with Leicester City back in September.
This will be a good test for City, in a game Malky Mackay is surely targetting to win. Pompey are not strong away from home, but do have some quality players even if lacking in quantity. City will look to bounce back with a win after failing to score in consecutive games.
