Cardiff City Youngster Wildig Extends Shrews Stay

Cardiff City's young midfielder Aaron Wildig is set for an extended stay with league 2 outfit Shrewsbury Town after agreeing an extension to his current loan deal. Wildig not looks set to play for the Shrews until the end of the season.

Initially loaned out to gain first team action, Wildig has made only five appearances, starting in three and making two late appearances as a substitute. However, he may be wondering whether he could have made more of an impact if he'd remained with the Bluebirds.

Malky Mackay is ever willing to give young players a chance, a fact emphasised by Joe Ralls continued involvement in the first team. The teenager burst onto the scene this season, and has impressed. He started the last few games for City, even though experienced midfielder Stephen McPhail and Slovakian loanee Filip Kiss were fit and named on the bench.

Wildig has barely featured for the Cardiff City first team, but did get a prolonged run under Dave Jones during a severe injury crisis for City. He acquitted himself well, and has improved considerably his strength since then.

Hopefully, Wildig can get regular action with Shrewsbury Town and either impress enough to force his way into Cardiff City contention, or, entice other clubs to make an offer for the young Welshman.
