Miller Miss Forgotten As Kenny Strikes Again

Cardiff City striker Kenny Miller has shown steady improvement through his Bluebirds career to date and is now a hugely influential member of the starting XI. The Scot was again the hero yesterday as his second half header was enough to win all three points during a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Miller is a natural finisher, but this was no poachers goal and there was plenty to do when Whittingham sent a left footed cross over from 40 yards out. It was an excellent ball but Miller had to hold off his defender before directing the ball back across goal with enough power to beat Lee Camp.

The excellent finish was testament to Miller's quality but also his mental strength after he had moments earlier missed a much better chance to give City the lead. When through on goal, he pushed his shot wide of the post and was clearly frustrated with himself. To then score from the much more difficult opportunity just a minute later showed good concentration.

Miller has operated in a lone striker's role for much of the season but yesterday showed that the partnership between himself and young French striker Rudy Gestede can also be effective. Yesterday's was Miller's 7th in the league this season and the Bluebirds will be hoping he can continue this form into the New Year and fire City into a play-off position come May.
