Cardiff City Expect Further Bids For Whittingham
Cardiff City have shown their resolve to keep key midfielder Peter Whittingham at the club by rejecting a multi-million pound bid from West Ham.
The Hammers look on course for promotion to the Premier League having risen to the automatic promotion positions despite sever injury problems. Sam Allardyce has money available to bolster his squad in January with Whittingham a top transfer target.
A bid of approx £3m was suggested by West Ham, but has been rebuffed by the Bluebirds. It is expected that another improved bid will be made and with our financial position stable but heavily in debt - any serious bid must be considered.
Mackay has insisted Whittingham is not for sale and is integral to the Bluebirds first team. The player himself is happy at the club and not pursuing a move. Hopefully the stance will be re-iterated if the Hammers return - Whittingham would simply be impossible to replace for Cardiff City at the moment.
