Cardiff City have agreed to loan out-of-favour defender Dekel Keinen to rivals Crystal Palace for an initial period until the New Year.
The Israeli International has not been in South Wales long, having switched from Blackpool when the Seasiders enjoyed their season in the Premiership. Keinen had failed to establish himself at Bloomfield Road, though looked good on occasions. That story has followed him South, and despite being a calm and assured presence at the back for City, he lost confidence and had a shocker in the 3-0 home play-off defeat to Reading.
With the return of Anthony Gerrard from loan, and the recruitment of Ben Turner from Coventry - Cardiff City have a wealth of options in the centre half position. In reality, Keinen is 5th in line behind Turner, Hudson, Gerrard and Blake. Gabor Gyepes is the unfortunate man at the bottom of the pile.
This move seems promising for all parties. Keinen will surely be looking to leave, and Cardiff City surely do not see him with a future at the club. Nevertheless, he remains a solid defender and capable of contributing at Championship level. A strong spell with Palace could see him in the shop window come January and able to engineer a move to the benefit of all involved.
