Reading Fan's View On Cardiff City Clash

Cardiff City travel to face Reading as the Championship returns to action, Vital Reading Editor Josh gives his thoughts on the clash below:

What do you expect from Reading this season?

Similarly to you, not a huge amount really considering the players that we let go in Long and Mills. A mid-table finish would be very realistic with the possibility of sneaking into the play-offs with some good form towards the end of the season which we have done for the past few seasons. It`s especially so hard to tell this early into the season.

Thoughts on your new signings?

I think Kaspars Gorkss has been without a doubt our best signing. Us Reading fans worried with Mills` departure leaving a gaping hole at the back but Gorkss has filled it fantastically well, if not coming across a better player than Mills. Matt Mills` younger brother Joseph has been a decent acquisition as well. He played left mid the majority of his career so his defensive qualities lacked at left back but he is certainly getting better by the game. Le Fondre is a player that I admire and think is a fantastic signing for the money we bought him for and the goals he brings. Jumping two leagues for anyone is a tough job but Alfie has done it ever so well.

How's your general form?

For a while we went on a unbeaten run which seemed good to start with but we soon realised we were drawing way too many games and it was starting to become frustrating. We lost our unbeaten streak at Forest a few weeks ago after a dire performance in a 1-0 loss but we responded very well against Birmingham the following weekend, beating them 1-0 in a solid performance.

Player to watch Saturday?

Its a tough one as no-one has been particularly outstanding except Gorkss and I get bored of saying him all the time so I will go with Noel Hunt. He hasn`t had the luck in getting a starting place in the team but his winner against Birmingham has basically guaranteed him a start this Saturday, so he will have a point to prove to McDermott.

If you could have one Cardiff City player on a free - who and why?

It would be between Miller and Whittingham but for the fact that we are currently lacking creativity in the midfield area, I will go with Whittingham. He`s been a top player for you these past few seasons and in a technical sense, he is one of the best midfielders outside the Premier League.

Prediction for the game?

It`s always a very interesting game between us at the Madejski i.e: goalkeepers scoring, debatable goals and decision. I`m going for a hard fought 2-2 draw.
