Cardiff City striker Kenny Miller could make a welcome return to action if passed fit for Sunday's tricky trip to Leeds United. The Scotland International was injured during the 5-3 win over Barnsley last weekend following a bizarre clash with teammate Ben Turner.
Miller's withdrawal came shortly after he had scored the opener with a neat finish, and though the clash seemed innocuous, he was bleeding copiously and needed 20 stitches in his head.
Miller was unavailable for the midweek tie with Burnley, but manager Malky Mackay is hopeful to have the key frontman back in contention if all goes well this week. He told WalesOnline:
"The swelling has gone down and we`re hopeful and fingers crossed he`ll be involved against Leeds on Sunday."
Mackay had previously suggested Miller could be ruled out for weeks as he recovered, though paid tribute to the medical professionals who treated Miller after the accident.
Miller offers experience and excellent finishing in attack for the Bluebirds and is familiar with our current lone frontman formation from Scotland duty. In his absence, and with the unfortunate hamstring blow for Rudy Gestede, we are short of options in attack. Jon Parkin is out-of-favour while the experienced Robert Earnshaw has been relegated to the bench of late leaving youngster Joe Mason to lead the line.
Miller's return would be a welcome boost, though he may be required to wear a protective headgear if he is to play a part.
