Miller Return For Sorry Cardiff City

After Tuesday's exhilarating but miserable result for the Bluebirds, Cardiff City are boosted by the return to action of Scottish frontman Kenny Miller - missing for several weeks with hamstring trouble.

Miller's return is extremely welcome, but Mackay will not have the option of pairing him with exciting young prospect Rudy Gestede. The tall French striker has impressed so far this season, but suffered another hamstring blow and will sit out the next few weeks.

That leaves Mackay with the decision to pair Miller with Earnshaw up front for the visit of Barnsley, a partnership that has yet to flourish, or go with Miller alone leaving an extra man in midfield.

The midfield struggled badly against Ipswich last week, improving significantly when sub Filip Kiss joined Gunnarsson and Whittingham in the engine room. Mackay will be aware that we look far more comfortable with the extra body in the centre.

City will look to bounce back with a win, but avoiding defeat is crucial. We are far from our best at the moment, conceding far too many goals and the Bluebirds need to start picking up points to avoid slipping further down the Championship table.
