New Cardiff City Recruit Has Most Awful Record !

Cardiff City have brought in extra goalkeeping cover in the form of Aston Villa 'keeper Elliot Parish as cover for Tom Heaton, currently struggling with injury.

Parish is a youngster, with virtually no competitive experience - though he has represented England U20s. His only 1st team experience came during a brief loan spell with Lincoln City towards the back end of last season.

Little is known about Parish, however his record leaves a great deal to be desired! A debut conceding SIX goals is far from ideal, especially for a goalkeeper. In fact, over a total of nine appearances, he has never kept a clean sheet and conceded an alarming 23 goals in those nine games, an average of 2-and-a-half goals per game. He has never won a game, only picking up a solitary draw meaning defeat in 8 of his 9 matches.

It would be unfair to judge Parish on the basis of a brief loan spell with a struggling Lincoln side who were ultimately relegated and have already performed poorly in the Conference this year. He is a youngster, and with Aston Villa in the Premiership. While little is known about him, he must have a decent pedigree.

Parish will certainly be on the bench tomorrow, in place of Heaton and as emergency cover for Scotsman and current number One David Marshall. Cardiff City fans will wish Parish well, but be hoping his services are not required and that the Bluebirds are able to avoid the unfortunate scenarios in recent years where by a multitude of loan goalkeepers have fallen well short of expectations....

Stuart Taylor, Stephen Bywater, Ross Turnbull and most especially Dimi Konstantopoulos have all flattered to deceive. Hopefully, this year's goalkeeping position will be a much safer and consistent area to the squad.
