A number of former Cardiff City players were on target for their current clubs today, the majority being fairly recent departures from the Bluebirds.
Joe Ledley opened the scoring for Celtic in a 2-0 win over Inverness, while Warren Feeney also netted the opener as Plymouth Argyle began life under new (caretaker) manager Carl Fletcher in fine style with a 2-0 win over Macclesfield.
Nathaniel Jarvis was on the non-league scoresheet, scoring from close range as Newport County secured a home point again Barrow.
The most crucial goal would seem to go to recently departed winger Chris Burke. The diminutive Scotsman was on hand to prod a curled effort into the corner as Birmingham City rescued a last minute point against Barnsley - the Blues blushes were spared by Burkey after putting in a desperately poor performance.
Former Cardiff and Rotherham Utd striker Alan Lee was denied a win by an injury time equaliser after his early header had given the terriers the lead.
Today's ex-Bluebirds goalscoring feats were all eclipsed by Ross McCormack who continued his brilliant early season form with a brace for new club Leeds United. His two goal salvo included a last gasp equaliser to rescue a point and remind Cardiff City fans of his considerable talents, leaving the club to reflect on his lack of opportunities and miniscule transfer fee of £300k. Our former Loanee Andy Keogh also found the net for Leeds.
Unfortunately, one other former Bluebird found the net today, but centre-half Roger Johnson was at fault for diverting a wayward Charlie Adam effort past his own goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy as Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers who Johnson now captains.
Hopefully, a few current City players can register on the scoresheet tomorrow, though it will be an incredibly tough ask as big spending Leicester City bring their talented and well rested squad to South Wales tomorrow.
