Cardiff City's Taylor Out For Two Weeks

Cardiff City defender Andrew Taylor has been confirmed to have suffered a hamstring tear after limping out of the AET Carling Cup win over Leicester City in midweek.

However, it could have been mush worse and scans have revealed only a grade one tear. This injury is only enough to keep a player out for a few days, but the hamstring remains under-strength for another week and in danger of relapse if pushed too hard.

Therefore, Taylor will likely miss a couple of weeks, most likely now looking at a return after the upcoming International break. Speaking of the injury, Mackay told WalesOnline:

"We`ve had him scanned and they reckon he`s going to be a couple of weeks."

"We are obviously disappointed, but it could have been worse, we might have been looking at six weeks."

he main question now is Mackay's decision over who should replace Taylor. The only viable like-for-like option is former Celtic left-back Lee Naylor - another who has barely featured this year and also suffered badly with poor form last year. Naylor did look solid enough against Leicester and may have done enough to earn himself a chance.

Alternatively, Kevin McNaughton is equally comfortable on the left side of defence - a move which would then allow either Paul Quinn or Darcy Blake to slot in on the right.
