Cardiff City have managed just one signing since the season began with the deadline day deal for Coventry City centre-back Ben Turner the only recruit. Turner arrives highly-rated, though missed the majority of last season with a knee injury.
No-one has seen Turner play since November 2010 but we asked Vital Coventry fan Alex for his views on the former Sky Blue:
What type of defender is Turner ?
He is an old fashioned centre-half in some ways, tall and powerful but with a little bit extra to his game and certainly a 100%+ man every game.
Any particular strengths or weaknesses?
Very good in the air he can also read the game well and does chip in with a fair few goals from set pieces.
We lack pace at centre-half, Turner doesn't seem the obvious solution?
Possibly not although he is no slouch.
Is the reported £900k a fair price?
Absolutely, he could adapt to playing in the top-flight if you got there. If not he would be sold at a profit.
Injury problems - A persistent worry, or just a one off ?
A bit of a worry, his style of play does make susceptible to injuries and his comeback from this one got put off a few times.
Your thoughts on 'missing out on Jon Parkin' ?!?
I like the big man but he would not have fitted into the current style of play Andy Thorn is favouring.
Many thanks to Alex over at Vital Coventry for his views.
