Bluebirds Battle To Burnley Stalemate
Cardiff City battled hard to overcome an early goal and secure a valuable if somewhat fortunate point after a 1-1 draw at Burnley. There wasn't a huge amount between the sides, both lacking quality in areas but the Clarets did hold the upper hand for much of the contest and were the more likely winners.
It was Charlie Austin who grabbed a second minute lead for his side, heading in a Trippier cross after the Clarets caused havoc down the Cardiff left. Austin failed to test Marshall with a similar effort later while Mark Hudson also went close for The Bluebirds.
There were few chances for Cardiff City, but the one that mattered fell to natural finisher Robert earnshaw who stroked home shortly before half time after good play by Andrew Taylor.
Marshall saved a Ross Wallace drive, Keith Treacy went close on a couple of occasions, while a committed double block late on from Hudson and McNaughton was enough to keep substitute Zavon Hines from recording his first Burnley goal.
Word of the day was probably satisfactory for Cardiff City. Burnley is a tough place to come, and City fought and battled throughout the game. It was good to see us bounce back from conceding too early, and to avoid defeat was certainly the aim.
