Cardiff City Expect More New Signings

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has confirmed that there will be more new additions to his new look Bluebirds squad with further new arrivals set to supplement the likes of Miller, Earnshaw, Conway etc all of whom have joined to replace outgoing stars like Bothroyd, Chopra and Burke.

Mackay initially inherited a decimated squad, hit hard by the departure of numerous loan signings, out of contract stars and the sale of Michael Chopra. He has mostly dealt in free transfer and appears to have done well in bringing the likes of Conway, Earnshaw, Gunnarsson, Taylor etc in for negligible transfer fees.

Forwards Kenny Miller and Joe Mason have seen money totalling £1m spent and there is scope for bringing another forward player, and a wide midfielder to the club.
Speaking at the 9.15 press conference this morning, Mackay commented:

"It`s all coming together. We probably have a couple more players to add to the squad but we`re still working on that."

"Twelve players left in the summer so there was a massive area to fill. We have got nine in but we still need more to pad the squad out."

It remains to be seen whether the incoming players will be squad players to provide options from the bench and as injury cover, or, whether that further recruits will be important first team players ready to step into the starting XI.

Mackay has previously indicated he is prepared to wait for his top targets to become available and won`t rush to sign players unless they are the right ones. Indications have been that further transfers may come over the next few weeks, meaning we will line-up to face West Ham in 9 days time with the same squad we have today.
