Arsenal Youngster joins on loan

The 19-year-old right (or left) back made several first team performances for Arsenal last impressing many pundits and his manager Arsene Wenger who is said to rate the defender especially highly. He made his debut in the 3-0 league cup victory over Reading and also played Champions league football against Ajax.

Gilbert played against Cardiff City in the FA Cup third round and looked solid defensively as well as making several bursts up the flank.

Gilbert made a total of 9 first team performances for Arsenal gaining a reputation as a tenascious and committed defender.
