CCFC Finally Break Silence: Approach For Mackay

CCFC Finally Break Silence: Approach For Mackay

Cardiff City have finally broken their media silence over the new managerial appointment with the release of a terse statement on the official site confirming that, as reported elsewhere, we have now madde a formal approach to Watford FC for the services of Malky Mackay.

Through the drawn out interviews, and the Alan Shearer debacle - Cardiff City have remained staunchly silent but have now responded to repeated and determined media requests for information, though only to confirm what had been reported elsewhere.

The statement read:

'Following an announcement from Watford FC, Cardiff City FC confirms that an official approach has been made for the services of manager Malky Mackay. No further comment will be made at this time.'

Watford FC have rebuffed our approach, releasing their own official statement:

'We don't want Malky to leave Watford and we will do everything in our power to keep him at Vicarage Road'.

As is often the case in these situations, much will depend on Malky Mackay. If he wants the Cardiff job, he will speak with his board. The Hornets are keen to keep him, and will offer him various budgetary concessions etc to get him to stay, while the fact that he only recently signed a lengthy contract extension will also weigh heavily. If he is set on leaving, Watford will come under increased pressure to allow Mackay to at least speak with Cardiff - it's in no-ones interest to have a manager who doesn't want to be at the club.

The rollercoaster continues....
