Cardiff City Fans Happy With Shearer Snub

Cardiff City looked close to appointing Alan Shearer as the new manager late last night but late stage talks ultimately failed and Shearer withdrew from the selection process - a decision that went down well, though not unanimously, with the Cardiff City supporters.

While most were respectful of his playing career and reputation, and happy to give Shearer their full support - the vast majority of fans had concerns over his brief managerial career, and his distinct lack of experience with only a torrid (and ultimately failed) time as Newcastle boss.

Whilst the likes of Chris Hughton, Malky mackay and roberto Di Matteo are all relative newcomers to managerial life, all have significantly more practise than Shear - who has never ever managed in the Championship.

It appears that Shearer was the one to pull out of the proposed deal, but that has caused little angst or disappointment to the majority of fans, though the continued frustration at the lack of news remains clear. We are losing time in the preparation, player recruitment and team gelling that will surely all need to be top notch if we are to challenge for promotion once again this year.

No Shearer, no problem. However, the new managerial appointment simply must be made as soon as possible - for the good of Cardiff City FC.
