Last Gasp Bellamy Saves Bluebirds' Blushes
Cardiff City staggered to a draw against Burnley but needed a 90th minute strike to cancel out Jay Rodriguez' early opener.
City were simply awful first half, totally eclipsed by a bright Burnley side. Our defending was particularly suspect and a hopeful long ball was watched by a static defence allowing Rodriguex to collect, cut inside and fire across Bywater. Cardiff created no real shots and the only moments of danger were smartly smothered by Jensen.
The second half we improved somewhat as Burnley eased off. Again, there was little fluency or penetration with Burke and Koumas ineffective and anonymous. Bothroyd barely had a touch, while Keinan was the most effecvtive player making several blocks to deny the Clarets.
In the last minute, a McPhail chipped pass released Bellamy and Jensen made his only mistake of the game as he came but was beaten to the ball and Bellamy's flick found the empty net. It wasn't really deserved and Burnley would surely have been disappointed with the point in a competitive match with real points at stake.
Cardiff City were spared a dismal defeat, but this was a very flat and dis-jointed performance. Burnley are a good side, and will do well next season but the Bluebirds desperately need to find some form - hopefully the last minute goal can provide some much needed impetus for the play-offs....
